Ambitious and impressive new site which sets out to be a 'place in which the books, literature and scholarship of Africa can be discussed and debated'. All About Romance

Bloomsbury Magazine

The famous Bloomsbury name is now applied to a web literary magazine, a writers' centre which gives advice to aspiring writers, a literary calendar of festivals and competitions plus a range of reading courses. Bloomsbury Magazine

Book Magazine

Highly recommended American books magazine with excellent website and bimonthly paper version. Ranges from popular to literary and covers English language books worldwide.  Reviews, interviews with authors, some web exclusives.  Library Journal said it was; 'well-focused, skilfully edited'. http://www.bookmagazine.com/

January Magazine

La Ronde

Subtitled 'the Playwright's Ring', this unusual site links playwrights' own sites and is worth a look if you want to join the ring.  Focus on stage plays. www.pipeline.com

Laystar Magazine

Although not strictly a writers' magazine, this site allows writers to hone their article-writing skills and get their work published on the web. There are no submission fees but also no fees paid.  Clear guidelines enable writers to work on writing to a commercial brief for online publication. http://www.laystar.co.uk/

Lit Net

Virtual literary centre for writers coming from the West Midlands in the UK.  From a fairly opinionated and individual point of view offers an inclusive approach to literature.   www.lit-net.org

The Lost Club

Mslexia

Stylish and lively site for quarterly UK literary magazine read by 12,000 'committed' women writers.  Good range of quality writing, information and advice with news, reviews, competitions and interviews, all presented in a friendly fashion. The Mystery Reader

The New Writer 

This well-regarded magazine comes out six times a year and publishes the best in fact, fiction and poetry, including top stories from the Fish Prize and Real Writers annual competitions. Runs annual Prose and Poetry prizes, including short stories, novellas and essays, material to be submitted by end November. The magazine is towards the more literary end of the spectrum, but offers more publishing opportunities and market information for subscribers than other UK-based creative writing magazines.

Worlds without Borders
